  • HOW WE WORK: THE SAI GENiUS RESEARCH SYSTEM

The Engine Behind Every SAI GENiUS Deliverable. Explained Completely. Because You Deserve to Know Exactly What You Are Buying.

The Architecture of Our Research Model

Most research firms treat their methodology as a black box. They take your brief, they disappear for three weeks, and they return with a document. The process in between is opaque by design — because if clients understood how little rigour was applied to that process, they would ask harder questions.

We take the opposite approach. We explain exactly how we work — because transparency about our methodology is part of what makes our research credible.

PHASE - 1 PHASE - 2 PHASE - 3 PHASE - 4 PHASE - 5
Brief Intake & Question Architecture (Day 1)

Every project begins with a structured Brief Intake process — a 60–90 minute session (call or written submission) in which we clarify four things:

  1. The Business Decision: What is the specific decision this research will inform? Not "I want to understand the market" — but "I am deciding whether to enter the Mumbai market with a ₹40 lakh marketing investment, and I need to know whether the competitive landscape and customer acquisition economics make that viable."

The specificity of the decision determines the specificity of the research. Generic briefs produce generic research. Decision-specific briefs produce decision-specific intelligence.

  1. The Decision Timeline: When does this decision need to be made? This determines the research timeline we commit to — and the appropriate balance between comprehensive depth and rapid delivery.
  2. The Existing Assumptions What do you already believe about this market, this question, or this opportunity? We document your existing assumptions explicitly — because one of the most valuable services we provide is either validating or challenging those assumptions with data. Research that merely confirms what you already thought is less valuable than research that tests it.
  3. The Specific Unknowns: What are the specific things you do not know that are most critical to making this decision correctly? These become the primary research questions that structure our entire investigation.

The output of Phase 1 is a Signed Project Brief — a 1-2 page document that defines the exact research questions, the agreed deliverable scope, the timeline, and the investment. You sign it. We sign it. Everything that follows is accountable to it.

The DEPTH Research Protocol™ Execution (Days 2–[N])

This is the core of our production process. Every SAI GENiUS project — regardless of scope or price — follows our proprietary DEPTH Research Protocol. Five layers. Sequential. Non-negotiable.

What the DEPTH Protocol Is

The DEPTH Research Protocol is SAI GENiUS's proprietary quality standard — a 5-layer research framework that every project follows, regardless of scope, price, or timeline. It is the operational expression of our commitment to research that is not just comprehensive, but genuinely reliable and immediately actionable.

It exists because "market research" as an industry category has an accountability problem. A freelancer and a Big-4 consulting firm both call their output "market research." The quality difference is enormous. The terminological difference is zero.

The DEPTH Protocol is our answer to that problem — a verifiable, documented, reproducible standard that defines exactly what our research process includes, and that allows clients to hold us accountable to it.

Strategic Synthesis & Recommendation Development (Final 2–3 Days)

Data collection and organization are not intelligence. It is the raw material of intelligence.

This phase is where SAI GENiUS produces the work that separates our deliverables from a well-organized Google research summary.

The Synthesis Process:

A senior SAI GENiUS strategist takes the organized, verified, triangulated data from the DEPTH Protocol and applies a structured strategic interpretation process:

Step 1 — Pattern Recognition: What are the non-obvious patterns across the data? What is the data telling us collectively that is not visible in any single data point?

Step 2 — Assumption Challenging For every major finding, the analyst asks: "What would make this finding wrong? What data am I not seeing that could contradict this conclusion?" We explicitly hunt for the evidence that challenges our emerging interpretation.

Step 3 — Strategic Implication Mapping. For each verified finding, we map specific strategic implications for the client's exact business situation — not for "a business in this sector" generically, but for this client, with these resources, in this competitive position.

Step 4 — Recommendation Prioritization We rank recommendations by: (a) impact magnitude, (b) implementation speed, (c) resource requirement, and (d) risk level — so the client knows not just what to do, but what to do first.

Step 5 — Counterargument Development For each major recommendation, we articulate the strongest counterargument — the reason a reasonable person might disagree. This makes our recommendations more honest, more useful in stakeholder discussions, and more resilient to the scrutiny of investors, boards, or senior management.

Quality Review & DEPTH Protocol Check (48 Hours Before Delivery)

Every completed deliverable passes through a structured quality review against our 25-point DEPTH Protocol checklist before it leaves our system.

This review asks 25 specific questions across 5 dimensions:

  1. Factual Accuracy (7 checks) — Are all claims sourced? Are source dates within acceptable recency windows? Are India-specific data sources prioritized over global aggregates?
  2. Analytical Rigour (6 checks) — Are all major findings triangulated? Are conflicting sources documented and reconciled? Are statistical claims presented with appropriate confidence intervals?
  3. Strategic Depth (5 checks) — Does every section connect data to strategic implications? Are recommendations specific enough to be actionable? Are they calibrated to the client's stated resource constraints?
  4. India-Market Accuracy (4 checks) — Do all consumer behavior claims reflect India-specific, not Western-market, research? Are regional variations appropriately captured? Are regulatory implications accurate and current?
  5. Communication Clarity (3 checks) — Can the executive summary be acted on independently? Is every chart and visualization self-explanatory? Is the document structured for the way busy decision-makers actually read?

Any deliverable that fails more than 2 of these 25 checks returns for revision before delivery. None has ever left our system without passing this review.

Delivery & Strategic Walkthrough

Delivery is not sending an email with a PDF attachment.

Every SAI GENiUS project delivery includes:

The Deliverable Package: The primary research document — beautifully structured, executive-summary-first, clearly written, immediately actionable — plus all supporting materials: data tables, visualization files, source bibliography, and methodology documentation.

The Strategic Walkthrough Session (60 minutes) A structured call with the SAI GENiUS analyst who led your research — walking through the five most important findings, explaining the analytical reasoning behind each major recommendation, and answering your specific questions.

The Implementation Conversation. At the end of the walkthrough, we explicitly discuss: "Given what you now know — what are the three things you should do in the next 30 days, and what should you stop doing?" This is not an upsell conversation. It is the most important 10 minutes of the entire engagement.

The 30-Day Follow-Up: 30 days after delivery, every SAI GENiUS client receives a brief follow-up message — two questions: (1) What decision did you make based on the research? (2) Is there anything in the deliverable that you need clarified as you implement? We do this because we genuinely care about what happens after we deliver. And because what clients do with our research teaches us how to make the next research project more useful.
